Pennine Wealth Solutions (PWS) are committed to supporting and giving back to our local community in the North West, and involvement in helping the community is built into our strategy.

PWS have a CSR committee who look at local charity projects, and how we can offer help and support. We also encourage and help staff to support charities which are dear to them.

Pennine Wealth Solutions Pay for a Day for Brian House Children’s Hospice!

Following a visit to Brian House Children’s Hospice in 2019, and seeing the amazing work they do, PWS decided to do whatever they could to support the charity. PWS made a commitment to donate £300 each month to Brian House. A year on and PWS have donated £3,600, which ‘pays for a day’ to run Brian House.

Brian House Children’s Hospice

The charity is based in Bispham, Blackpool and provides respite, palliative and end of life care for children and young people with life-limiting conditions. Their amazing facilities are designed to create a home from home atmosphere for the children and their families. It costs £3,598 per day to run Brian House, and they only receive 15% of their running costs from the Government.

Covid-19 has brought unprecedented challenges for Brian House. They have seen their fundraising, become seriously undermined. They have explored new avenues and innovative ‘socially distanced’ approaches in recent months, but without their mass participation challenges, community and corporate events, and the closure for many weeks of their charity shops, they are facing a £1.5 million shortfall over the year.

George Critchley, Senior Partner at PWS said ‘following our first visit to Brian House we knew we wanted to do what we could to support them and the work they do in supporting children, young adults and their families. We are delighted to have ‘paid for a day’. COVID has proven a difficult time for Brian House and other charities that rely on regular support and donations. We look forward to continuing our support to Brian House for the next 12 months ’

Janet Atkins, Corporate Partnership Manager for Brian House said ‘It has been an absolute pleasure working with the team at Pennine Wealth Solutions over the last 12 months. They have been a huge support for Brian House Children’s Hospice and we are thankful that we can count on their generous support for the year ahead!’

Last Choir Singing is back for a Sixth year!

Last Choir, a singing competition for Lancashire junior schools is back for a sixth year

It was not certain that the Last Choir Singing Competition would take place this year after the organisers needed to secure new funding. Thankfully David Wilson Homes stepped in as the main sponsor, which has enabled Pennine Wealth Solutions to continue their support of the competition by donating £5,000.

Over the past six years, the competition has reached 150 junior schools within Lancashire, with over 8,000 children taking part. Several regional heats will take place at different locations across Lancashire, where the choirs will compete for a place in the Grand Final.

The Grand Final will be held at the fabulous King Georges Hall in Blackburn in June. The winners of the competition will receive £1,000 towards music equipment for their school. The runners up will receive £500, and the winners of the regional heats will receive £250 each.

Anchorsholme Academy, of Thornton Cleveleys, won the 2019 competition with their spectacular performance of ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. Norbreck Primary Academy from Blackpool were runners up.

Duncan Heather, the organiser of Last Choir, said: “It’s amazing that the competition can continue this year thanks to the new support from David Wilson Homes.  We are also delighted to have Pennine Wealth Solutions supporting us again.  They have been a supporter from the very beginning and have always attended the heats and the grand final to support the choirs.  I can’t wait to see what amazing talent we have again this year”.

Sean Fisher, Business Development Manager at Pennine Wealth Solutions said: “We are delighted to once again be supporting Last Choir.  We have seen the competition grow over the last five years and know how much the children enjoy taking part.  We are pleased that David Wilson Homes have stepped in as the main sponsor which has enable us to continue with our support.  We can’t wait to see the amazing performance from the choirs again this year”.

Pennine Wealth Solutions | Building our support for Brian House Children’s Hospice

Following a recent visit to Brian House Children’s Hospice, and seeing the amazing work they do. Pennine Wealth Solutions (PWS) decided we wanted to do whatever they could to support the charity.

Brian House Children’s Hospice

The charity is based in Bispham, Blackpool care for local children with very complex needs and life-limiting conditions.  Their amazing facilities are designed to create a home from home atmosphere for the children and their families. It costs £3,598 per day to run Brian House, and they only receive 15% of their running costs from the government. All donations they received no matter how big or small are all gratefully welcomed.

Following our visit

We felt we had to do something to help this fantastic charity.  So we started off our fundraising at our June Investment Seminar, where we raffled a hamper filled with lots of goodies, including an afternoon tea for two. We were amazed at how generous our guests were and in total raised £260 within minutes of the tickets going on sale.

But we didn’t want to stop there so as from September this year, PWS will donate £300 each month to Brian House. The donation is linked by a formula to our turnover, and therefore we anticipate it growing in the future.

Our next investment seminar will take place on Thursday 5th December at Barton Grange Hotel, and we will be holding another raffle at the seminar.  This time we will have a hamper full of Christmas goodies! Some of our staff are also looking at other ways they can fund raise over the next 12 months, so watch this space!

At PWS, we are no stranger to supporting our local community

For the past five years, we have been co-sponsors of the Last Choir Singing competition, which has seen thousands of primary school children take part in the competition to become the Last Choir Singing Champions.  PWS are still supporting Last Choir in the future, but this year wanted to also support a local charity, and could think of no better charity to support than Brian House.
